The 2011 Phoenix Comicon was my first. In this blog, I will share pictures, videos, and my reactions and perspectives. I invite you to share your comments (positive or negative).

I also invite you to share pictures or links with other followers.

As my first posting, I want to share a video of one of the acts at the masquerade on Saturday night.

I hope you find the video as funny as I did. I have to apologize for the quality but I was seated at the side of the stage and had to use the big screen to shoot the video. I also thought they were done so the video is in two parts. Enjoy

A few years ago (sorry senior moment so I can’t remember exactly what year) my family and I were on a flight to San Diego in July to escape the heat in Phoenix. I know all of you from San Diego feel we are invading your city, but if you have ever spent a summer in Phoenix, you would understand.

On the flight, we observed some people dressed as super heroes and characters from some of our favorite sci-fi films and TV shows. I found out that they were flying to San Diego to attend the comicon convention. Now, even though I loved comic books as a kid and still like good science fiction, I had never heard of comicon. This led me to ask an expert on such matters, my wife.

She told me that comicon was a huge comic book/sci-fi convention that was held each year. It was then that we decided we wanted to attend a comicon in the future. However, with the tight economy, (in other words, we are not rich and money is tight) we have found it difficult to travel much in recent years but when we found out about the local convention in Phoenix, we had no excuse and had to attend this year.

Well, enough about myself. Let’s take a look at some of the people dressed in their favorite characters who attended this year’s comicon. Some of the costumes are good and some are not but I will let you be the judge by including your comments.
